Shorelunch in March?

Mar 28, 2015

Aikens guests always look forward to their daily shorelunch. Many say it’s the highlight of their day, and as far as meals go, it doesn’t get any better than fresh-caught walleye cooked over the open fire on a point overlooking the lake.

To give people a small taste of Manitoban walleye during the offseason––and to swap fishing stories with current and future guests––we conducted our third annual round of Aikens Lake Shore Suppers this March.

Pit and Patrick drove a truck full of frozen walleye fillets down to Lincoln, Nebraska to kick off the 2015 Shore Supper circuit. We had a great time visiting with a few Aikens “regulars,” as well as many new folks who are considering a trip to Aikens in the future. The evening consisted of a complementary cocktail hour (in the spirit of our Big Molly’s happy hour), a 15-minute presentation on the “Aikens Experience” and then a tasty walleye dinner.

A few days later Pit and Patrick drove to Chicago and did it all over again––but this time with Patrick making some jabs at the Chicago Blackhawks. Not sure how worried they are about our Winnipeg Jets, but anything can happen in hockey, right?

To wrap things up, the fellas drove up to Minneapolis and hosted 50-some Minnesotans at the Golden Valley Golf and Country Club. Again, it was awesome to reconnect with a few regular guests during the “offseason,” and also talk with many new fishermen and fisherwomen about our favorite slice of paradise: Aikens Lake

Let us know if you’re interested in helping us host an Aikens Shore Supper in your community next year. We’d like to thank everyone who came out to see us over the past month!

And don’t forget: That beer-batter walleye will taste even better this summer when you’re eating it fresh on the lake …
