“The Great Escape”
Review by John R

“I've been coming to Aikens since 1990. I can remember the first time here, wondering if it was a fluke. The fishing, food and staff were all top notch then. Move on 29 years and 16 trips (I think it's more), in all weather conditions from snow to the dog days in August, and every time back there has been improvement. I can remember 15-hp, 2-cycle motors and the two-way radio phone as the only communication!
The one thing that hasn't changed is the focus on the Aikens Experience. From the greeting upon arrival to the hugs when leaving and including all the great food and company make this a trip well worth repeating. Oh, did I forget to mention the fishing? Meet us at Big Molly's and we can share stories until the sun comes up!”
“Top of The Line Memory with My Grandsons”

“From pick up at the Winnipeg airport to drop off, it was 1st class. What a great adventure for my 12 & 13 year-old grandsons and their grandpa too. From the flight in, greeting at the pier, to the food and especially the staff. All just plain wonderful. Accommodations and equipment are top drawer.
Best of all was we landed at 1:30, were on the lake at 2:30. The boys quit counting walleyes when we reached 30 at 3:30. All over 20 inches. I shouldn’t need to say any more.”
“Family Fishing Trip”

“I’ve been to Aikens many times and can’t say enough about this place! I recently went with my sister and her family and they loved it! They had never experienced fishing quite like this! Pit and Julie always go above and beyond to make you feel right at home. The fishing is outstanding and the guides are super friendly. Cabins are clean and the shore lunches are great!
I highly recommend taking family and friends to Aikens Wilderness Lodge!”
“I have been to many fly-in lodges. There is not one thing that I experienced that might be improved upon. Perfection!”

“Flight, docks, boats, motors and equipment all top notch. Suite/cabin has screened veranda, ceiling fan, AC and heater, bar fridge, coffee maker and they converted the twin beds to very comfortable king size. Big shower. My wife appreciated the big mirror and great lighting.
Guides are extraordinarily well trained and very knowledgeable and accommodating (I have had my share of trips with sketchy guides at other lodges).
Shore lunch locations had tall wind-proof field stone firepits, lots of cut firewood, plus propane burners and you didn't have to eat sitting on a rock – lots of picnic tables, some with shelters to get out of the rain as well.
Complimentary happy hour in Big Molly's bar was a treat with a fabulous selection, pool table, shuffle board and screened veranda. Breakfast and suppers were excellent as well. What more can I add... oh yes... way too many walleye, lots of northern pike and we even landed a really nice lake trout on this scenic and exclusive lake.
This is a family run operation and they have thought of everything you can imagine to make the trip of a lifetime.
We will be back for sure!”
Great Visit

"Since 2007 I have been visiting Aikens and every year they do it better. The accommodations are five star and the service is better yet. Chef Enzo surprises us with another culinary delight each night and the ladies in the restaurant are there to make sure you get everything you could need.
My guide, Derrick has become a friend and a fishing competitor. This year he let me win. Pit and Patrick are not the best euchre players as Derrick and I found out. I only wish the bet was larger than bragging rights. This year there was a family of 3 generations with an 8 year old gentlemen named Holden who caught not only twice as many fish as he dad and grandpa, he also caught a 35 inch lake trout that weighed more than him.
Take your family, your friends, your wife or go alone. This place is a ten out of ten."
