  1. Hi! My name is Gab-Riel but at Aikens, people call me Pit.
  2. 2025 marks my 37th season at Aikens.
  3. When I'm not working at Aikens, I'm recovering from four knee surgeries in the winter of 2024/25. Torn Quadriceps tendon in November, re-tear in February. Subsequent infection caused more surgeries, but I entered the 2025 season at Aikens doing well. It was a long winter at home though... It was the first time since I was 3 that I didn't get on the ice more than 5 times to play hockey. I missed it a lot and can't wait to get on the ice in winter 2025/26!
  4. A fun fact about me is... Pat thinks I can speak fluent Spanish, but all I do is yell "Domingo Domingo Domingo" and it gets him every time. I understand a little through a few years of university classes and a few months in South America back in the day, but not enough to hold a conversation today.
  5. My favourite meal of the day is dinner. And I’m usually eating a nice ribeye, hopefully!
  6. An under-rated fishing spot on Aikens that I think more people should fish is… I should say Pit's Point out of pride. But for me it's Pickerel Cheeks which has tons of structure and drop-offs to deep water, but it's close to the lodge so I always drove past it as a guide.
  7. If I could swap lives with a celebrity for a day, it would be probably an NHL player, just to get on the ice and be able to belong on the ice with the best in the world. Maybe even play in a big game in front of the "Whiteout" like the Winnipeg Jets did in these most recent playoffs!
  8. If my life had a theme song, it would be "It's A Good Life If You Don't Weaken" by The Tragically Hip.

  5. My favourite meal of the day is supper. And I'm usually hoping to be eating some sort of seafood!
  6. An under-rated fishing spot on Aikens that I think more people should fish is Colin's Cruise.
  7. If I could swap lives with a celebrity for a day... oh man, my life if pretty good. Not sure I would want to swap. Maybe with the Princess of Wales so I can see what it’s like to be royal, be able to snoop around in a palace and try on all the beautiful clothes.
