Boosalis Family takes Aikens by storm!

Saturday, June 28th, 2003

When young Brandon Boosalis woke up this morning, he had spent the last two days watching as his mother Debbie and brother Bronson each catch two Master Angler fish. Well, today he was going to show them! In a span of 90 minutes, Brandon reeled in 3 trophy walleyes! Trophies of 70, 71, and 72 cm’s were caught, photographed, and released at Bear Island! Despite the rain, his smile shone through as you can clearly see in his pictures! Congratulations to the entire Boosalis family for an excellent trip to Aikens!

Some of the early ones have pictures, and we will be adding some of the other pictures as we get them. This list will be updated regularly this summer. Happy fishing!

The new Boardwalk Chalet is unveiled

Monday, June 23rd, 2003

In July 2001, we opened up the doors to an incredible feat of construction and determination. The Boardwalk Chalet was introduced and became an instant hit. It was booked for most of the summer in 2002. The same is true in 2003. However, now we also can offer the mirror image of the first cabin. Our second boardwalk chalet is now ready for occupancy. The detail and craftsmanship that went into these two beautiful log cabins is amazing. Our first guests went in today, and everything is going smoothly. Pictures of the new cabin will be added shortly.

Saddle’s on baby!

Tuesday, June 17th, 2003

The beautiful afternoon of the 15th of June marked just the beginning of many trophy walleye to be caught in the Saddle. Four trophies were caught that afternoon in the Saddle, and one this morning. The trophy count has now soared to 23.

Fathers celebrate their day in a big way

Sunday, June 15th, 2003

The fishing just keeps improving as the steady weather has really turned on the fishery. Today, 5 trophy fish were caught! Guests are enjoying the hot weather and the hot fishing. Night-time thunder showers have cooled off the weather, but expect the fishing to stay hot!

Weather looks up, and so does fishing

Friday, June 13th, 2003

After a couple days of rain and chilly winds, the sun poked out this afternoon and warmed things up. The afternoon fishing turned out pretty well with many walleye and pike caught, including a trophy 28 inch walleye caught at the falls. The trophy count now stands at 14 and climbing!

Back Bay and Falls still produce

Sunday, June 8th, 2003

Even with the event of wonderful weather and shallow water this season, the rapidly increasing temperature of the lake has not chased away big walleyes from the shallows. Today proved to be a great day for catching oodles of walleye ranging from 17 to 27 inches. All of these caught in 7 to 12 feet of water. The elusive 28 inch walleye seemed to be just out of reach though for the last couple days, although a walleye of 28 inches was caught several days ago by John Hyde of Chicago casting husky jerk baits at the falls.
